Magic Spider:

Magic-Spider is a company from South Korea. The man behind it doesn’t speak English so we corresponded with Dan from the forum who helped translate during our communication. Thanks Dan!

These rigs are also available on Ebay and we hear they’re called the “Gini Rig” there. We’re a bit confused by the many names and offers.

We suggest you only buy this stuff via links on cinema5D because we will only approve what is fit for DSLR’s and watch the pricing of the Magic-Spider stuff. So far price was too high but the builder is willing to lower it. We don’t know if that also applies to Ebay and Gini Rig stuff.

We tested and reviewed Magic-Spider’s rig and came to the conclusion that many parts of this rig really aren’t ready for DSLR shooting, but could be improved to work. Since that means the final version of this product will probably be very different, we talked to the designer and agreed not to post our findings here. We will give him the chance to work on his stuff. We recommend you wait until Magic-Spider has improved their products. We will officially review this rig once it is ready.

Parts we didn’t find ready: Shoulder pad, rails, base plate, setup (combination of parts) for the rig, counterweight security.

It might be interesting to point out that this was the only solution in the test that could be perfectly balanced onto the shoulder because the counterweight position was adjustable.
