In the final part of our chat with VR filmmaker and photographer Drew Gardner, our conversation turns to the necessary gear to pull of 360-degree video.

Drew Gardner

In this episode of cinema5D On the Go, we chat to Drew Gardner about the challenges of building a 360-degree video rig. With overheating being one of the biggest problems, Drew tells us how this issue actually dictates the cameras and settings that he uses to extend camera life as much as possible. Watch the video above to find out which kind of GoPro Drew actually uses for his professional work (the answer may surprise you).

Of course, once the rig is all setup and ready to go, and the risk of overheating has been minimised, you still have to think about a power solution. Drew explains how he sets up his VR rig to power all 7 cameras.

As a bonus, we also hear about the demise of a little world-travelling coffee cup!
