8Sinn Half Cage for BMPCC 6K Pro Released

8Sinn has recently launched a new half cage option for the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro. This cage consists of three pieces – top, side, and baseplate – and it features a cold shoe mount, multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 with ARRI locating pins mounting points, as well as an optional HDMI clamp. Let’s take a closer look at it!

Polish third-party camera accessories manufacturer 8Sinn is known for making high-quality rigging solutions for various cameras, including cages for the Panasonic S1/S1R or the SIGMA fp 8Sinn cage that we reviewed here.

The BMPCC 6K Pro was launched in March this year – you can watch our review here if you missed it – and various rigging solutions are slowly starting to hit the market, including ones from Tilta with an optional EVF relocator or SmallRig. In addition, 8Sinn is joining the party with the launch of its Half Cage solution for the BMPCC 6K Pro.

8Sinn Half Cage for BMPCC 6K Pro features

The 8Sinn Half Cage for the BMPCC 6K Pro, as its name suggest, only wraps around the top, bottom, and left side of your camera. In short, the cage protects all your input/output ports, but it doesn’t cover the camera’s grip on the right.

This cage attaches to your camera very securely via three screws: one at the top and two at the bottom. The cage consists of 3 pieces, it comes pre-assembled, and it is made from CNC machined aluminum.

All around the Half Cage, you’ll find multiple 1/4″ and 3/8″-16 with ARRI locating pins mounting points. These threaded openings should allow you to mount your camera accessories pretty much everywhere you want to. Also, you can attach your favorite quick release plate at the bottom of the 8Sinn Half Cage very securely via multiple attachment points.

If it’s not enough for you, the top of the half cage features a cold shoe mount (at an angle) for extra versatility. The 8Sinn Half Cage for the BMPCC 6K Pro also features a strap holder in case you need it.

Last but not least, 8Sinn also has an optional HDMI and USB-C cable clamp available – which is the same as the one for their BMPCC 4K/6K cages – to protect your input/output ports.

Bundles

A bundle is also available, including the 8Sinn Half Cage for the BMPCC 6K Pro and the 8Sinn Black Raven Top Handle. This handle attaches via an included NATO rail to the top of the cage.

The Black Raven Top Handle features multiple 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 mounting points, two cold shoe mounts, and has front/back adjustment. It is a very versatile top handle if you don’t already have one.

Price and availability

The 8Sinn Half Cage for the BMPCC 6K Pro is available now for $129/€119. The bundle that includes the Black Raven top handle is also available now for $204/€188.
