Zaxcom URX50 UHF IFB Audio Receiver Introduced

As one of the industry-leading professional audio equipment manufacturers, Zaxcom is known for their innovative solutions. The newly introduced URX50 is another very smart product which seems to provide maximum flexibility with high-end audio quality.

Zaxcom is known for creating innovative pro audio solutions. The recently introduced Zaxcom NOVA Recorder was a unique mixer/recorder on the market. Now they have also come up with a new concept for IFB receivers.

Design and connectivity of the Zaxcom URX50

The Zaxcom URX50 is a UHF IFB audio receiver. It has a dimension of 4.1 x 2.5 x .9” (10.5 x 6.35 x 2.3cm) and weights 4.5oz (128g) without batteries. On the outside, the URX50 looks very similar to the URX100 UHF wireless receiver. However, unlike the URX100 stereo receiver, the URX50 is a mono UHF receiver. The URX50 has a built-in speaker on the rear panel that allows audio monitoring both with and without headphones.

With 3 x Lithium AA batteries, the URX50 can run for up to 11 hours. There is also an optional drop-in charger, so there is no need to remove the batteries, just plug the unit into the charger at the end of the day.

The URX50 works perfectly with Zaxcom TRXCL3 IFB transmitter, but it also works with any Zaxcom digital wireless transmitter. Two diversity antennas provide a stable wireless connection. The newly designed IFB voting function let the receiver choose the strongest signal from 3 different transmitters. The IFV voting is a perfect solution either for monitoring multiple sound source or as a signal extender for a larger range.

Wireless control and GUI Bridge

With the URX50, Zaxcom is also introducing a new Wireless Control System and a new web-based GUI control surface. To use the wireless control, you will need to connect the GUI Bridge hardware to a TRXCL3 IFB Transmitter, open your web browser and type in the IP Adress of the GUI Bridge, and you are good to go. The wireless control allows to take control of every parameter of the URX50 receiver such as volume, frequency and delay. It can also give permission to turn on or turn off the in-build speaker.

Another very interesting function with the wireless control is the IFB Finder. If you can’t find your IFB receiver in the end of the day, no problem. just like “find my iPhone”, you can send a signal through the wireless control, and the internal speaker of the URX50 will make a sound to let you know where it is.
