Prolycht dedolight NEO Color Explained

At Cine Gear Expo 2022, we stopped by the Prolycht booth to find out more about their partnership with Dedo Weigert Film as well as the first family member born out of this collaboration, the dedolight NEO Color. Let’s see what this 80W RGBACL LED spotlight can do.

Last week, the dedolight NEO Color spotlight saw the light for the first time. This compact 80W fixture combines the form factor and accessory ecosystem typical of a dedolight fixture with Prolycht’s advanced color engine. My colleague Graham recently visited the Prolycht booth at Cine Gear Expo 2022. There Mitch Gross from Prolycht introduced him to this new RGBACL LED light and explained how it integrates with Prolycht’s more powerful fixtures. Let’s take a closer look.

Dedolight NEO Color: Prolycht at the core

As a quick refresher, the new dedolight NEO Color is an 80W LED spotlight fixture whose integrated optics offer a variable beam angle with a 6:1 zoom ratio. At the core of its metal body is Prolycht’s RGBACL (Red/Green/Blue/Amber/Cyan/Lime) Hypercolor Engine. This 6-color technology allows to reproduce rich RGB colors and offers an extremely wide color temperature range (2,000-20,000K).

Moreover, it is exactly the same technology that the brighter Prolycht Orion 300 FS and 675 FS fixtures exploit. This means that you should be able to easily match all these lights, as they should provide the same color-accurate output. Even better, all three fixtures are compatible with Prolycht’s ChromaLink smartphone app (iOS/Android) via Bluetooth and Wi-fi. Also, the dedolight NEO Color offers industry-standard DMX and LumenRadio CRMX connectivity.

Overall, the dedolight NEO Color can be a nice, portable, and versatile item to have in a lighting kit. Its dedicated ballast features an integrated V-mount battery plate, but can also be connected to AC power. Also, it grants access to onboard controls and displays settings on its built-in OLED screen.

Price and availability

According to Mitch Gross, the new dedolight NEO Color should start shipping towards September/October this year. The kit, which includes the lamp head, controller, barn doors, and 3-meter cable, will retail for $1,995. For a limited time period, the company will also include the AC power supply ($150 value) as an introductory offer.
