NiSi 9mm f2.8 for APS-C Cameras Announced

NiSi, the Chinese manufacturer known for making high-quality filter solutions and Cinema lenses has just announced a new super wide angle lens. Available in FUJIFILM X, Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and M4/3 mounts, this new lens will retail for $459.

Nowadays, it looks as if making new lenses is the latest trend in our industry (next to LED light fixtures), and Nisi, a company well known for manufacturing various filters, lens accessories, and Full-frame sets of lenses, is no exception. They just announced a sibling lens to its existing 15mm f4 full-frame lens, which is suitable for APS-C sensor size cameras.

This new compact 9mm f2.8 lens is a manual lens only made of metal and when it comes to the lens construction itself, the lens elements consist of 14 elements in 12 groups. The front filter thread is 67mm and the minimum focus distance is 0.2m.

Nisi claims 10 blades design, with optimal sharpness from center to corners, super flare resistance, ultra-low chromatic aberration, and anti-reflection technology in order to improve light transmission.

The company also promises minimal vignetting and low coma for astrophotography.

It hasn’t been made public yet when the NiSi 9mm f2.8 lens will be available, though as I mentioned above, the price is set at $459. We will update the article once we know more.
