ZHIYUN MOLUS G60 and MOLUS X100 LED Lights Introduced

ZHIYUN, a Chinese manufacturer well known for their gimbals, introduced two new small LED lights. The MOLUS G60 and the MOLUS X100 are two prototypes introduced this year at the CP+ show in Japan. So let´s find out more about the new lights.

More and more manufacturers previously known for other products are branching out into different the lighting area of our industry – SmallRig is making lights on top of its rigging accessories, and Z Cam is also started a lighting brand called ZOLAR (here’s our review). Next is gimbal manufacturer ZHIYUN, who also now announced a lighting range called MOLUS.

ZHIYUN MOLUS G60

The new ZHIYUN MOLUS G60 has an output of 60W and the color temperature can be adjusted from 2.700-6.500K. It weighs only 300g/10.58oz and is 90,6x67x66,95mm / 3,57×2,64×2,63 inch which makes the MOLUS G60 one of the lightest and smallest lights on the market.

The brightness and color temperature can be adjusted with two buttons on the back, and a small LCD screen displays the current settings.

Unfortunately, the light can only be used with a direct power supply and does not come with a battery option. Yes, the light is very small, but for better flexibility, it would have been useful to have the capability to power the small light with a battery or a power bank.

It comes with a mini-reflector, a DC power adapter, dome diffusion, and a bag. There will be a combo pack available that includes all these items, plus a tripod, a mini-softbox, a Bowens mount adapter, a grid, and an extra storage bag.

ZHIYUN MOLUS X100

The compact ZHIYUN MOLUS X100 has a bit of an unusual design for an LED fixture, but this one can be powered by a battery and also by a power supply from the wall. The battery run time is 30 minutes and the charging time is 2,5 hours. Unfortunately, you can only use ZHIYUN’s own batteries with a 6-pin connector and no alternative batteries or power banks.

The new ZHIYUN MOLUS X100 has an output of 100W and you can attach several different lighting modifiers to it. The brightness and the color temperature can be adjusted from 2.700-6.500K. There is also a small LCD screen to show the current settings. It has a fan which could be problematic when recording sound for an interview.
