Right now, a large part of our CineD team is here in Las Vegas to cover the industry’s largest trade show – the NAB 2023 – for the next few days. Interestingly, we conducted our first video interview of this year’s NAB right before leaving our office in Vienna, Austria. We talked with Jasper from iFootage about the company’s new monopod system – the Cobra 3. Let’s take a quick look.

Almost a month ago, we first published an article about the iFootage Cobra 3 when the company officially launched it. In case you missed it, check out the article for a roundup of the monopod’s features and specs. The Cobra 3 isn’t just one product, it’s a line of four modular products that offers both aluminum and carbon fiber parts, a tripod base, and a quick-release system.

Jasper explained the major improvements of the Cobra 3 compared to the older Cobra 2 system. The new CB3 monopods introduce the pedal lock system that can (un)lock movement of the base. The system also features a twist lock mechanism that incorporates a safety feature to prevent over-tightening and potential loosening. As Jasper told us, this saves time in the field when readjusting the monopod.

The new Cobra 3 also increased the maximum height to 180cm. You can combine the CB3 system modules in different configurations because of their modular design. The quick-release mechanism is the same for all the models. Furthermore, the tripod base has been extended for more stability with the maximum payload at 8kg.

The quick-release system with the retractable locking sleeve is another interesting feature of the monopod system, as it offers a combination of rugged stability and a compact design. For more information about the iFootage Cobra 3 monopods, you can check the manufacturer’s website.
