Angelbird introduces two new CFexpress B memory cards to their AV PRO product line. The AV PRO CFexpress B SE card with 1TB is designed for filmmakers recording up to 8K, and the smaller AV PRO CFexpress B SX card with 330GB is for photographers shooting 12K + RAW. Both cards improved their writing performance and doubled up the storage space compared to the previous version. Both the AV PRO CFexpress B SE with 1TB and the AV PRO CFexpress B SX card with 330G are now available for 299.99 EUR/USD (Excluding VAT where applicable)

The previous versions of both memory cards have been on the market for one and a half years. You can check them out here. But the demand for bigger cards with more storage space and higher performance is growing with cameras recording at higher resolution and higher frame rates. You could also say that the need for speed will never stop.

AV PRO CFexpress B SE card with 1TB

Both cards come with a reading speed of 1785MB/s, but as content creators, we always want a sustainable high writing speed. Angelbird has pushed the performance of the cards to the next level for recording video up to a resolution of 8K. The new 1TB card has a sustained writing speed of 1300 MB/s and a maximum writing speed of 1550 MB/s. That is a big increase compared to the older version of the card with a sustained wiring speed of 800 MB/s and a maximum of 850MB/s. This means you could use this card for taking 12K+ RAW photo shootings as well.

The smaller SX card with 330 GB takes the writing speed even further. It can provide a sustained speed of 1480 MB/s and a maximum speed of 1600 MB/s! That means you can capture images up to 12K + RAW without any buffer limits of your camera. This would make the card ideal for taking pictures at sports events or for any fast-moving objects, wildlife, and so on.

Summary

The AV PRO CFexpress B entry-level cards have been among the most popular media cards since they were introduced last year. Of course, you could get much bigger and more expensive CFexpress B cards with 4TB, but it is the compromise between size, performance, and price that makes the entry-level cards so interesting.

When it comes to reliability, by far the most important feature of any storage solution, you should never compromise. When you are making a living from your content, don’t try to save money on storage cards.
