ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 COB LED Spotlight and FIVERAY V60 Light Wand Introduced

ZHIYUN is expanding their lighting product lineup with two new fixtures. The ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 is a square box 200W bi-color COB LED spotlight with a 2,700-6,500K CCT range, while the FIVERAY V60 is a portable light wand with built-in lighting effects. Pricing starts at $199. 

After making a name for themselves by specializing in producing accessible stabilizing systems for lightweight cameras and smartphones, ZHIYUN decided to tip their toes in the lighting market by releasing some pretty innovative fixtures.

A good example is their MOLUS X100 100W bi-color portable light, which we praised with our Best of Show Award at NAB 2023. Now, the company is expanding their MOLUS series with a 200W bi-color model, the MOLUS G200, and is also launching the FIVERAY V60 light wand. Let’s take a closer look!

ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 – 200W bi-color square box light

Like the X100, the new ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 has a quite unusual square box design that makes it sleek and portable. The light body measures 127×67.5x225mm in size, weighs 2.2kg, packs a 200W COB LED bi-color engine, and is compatible with Bowens Mount accessories.

The light is fully dimmable and its color temperature is adjustable between 2,700 and 6,500K. According to the manufacturer, the fixture can output 61,500 lux at a distance of 1 meter when using the included standard reflector. Additionally, the light is equipped with a Max operating mode that increases the output to 85,800 lux at 1 meter using the aforementioned setup. Moreover, the light is claimed to score CRI95+ and TLCI97+ ratings, so it should provide a pretty color-accurate output.

Additional operating modes include Music and Live. The former allows you to create dynamic lighting effects based on a music track, while the latter enables you to power multiple MOLUS G200 units from a single AC power source.

The light comes with an external power box/controller weighing 910g and features two physical control buttons and a small display. However, you can also adjust settings over Bluetooth using your smartphone and the ZY Vega app (iOS/Android). Lastly, the kit includes a 180° flexible support to mount the light onto stands.

ZHIYUN FIVERAY V60 – 60W Light Wand

On the other hand, the new ZHIYUN FIVERAY V60 is built on the legacy of the existing FIVERAY F100 model. This light wand measures 450x46x47mm, weighs about 891g, and provides 60W of output. The unit has a built-in battery that should keep it running at full power and 4,200K for about 24 minutes, which can be quite limiting.

However, connecting the light to a DC or USB-C PD power source allows you to unlock the Max output mode. This increases the power to 120W when using mains and 100W when relying on a USB-C PD source.

The FIVERAY V60 offers the same color temperature range as the MOLUS G200 (2,700-6,500K) but is claimed to have slightly better CRI (96+) and TLCI (98+) scores. Moreover, you can benefit from 6 built-in lighting effects (SOS, TV, broken light bulb, candle, lightning, and fire).

The light body features a small display as well as two control dials to adjust settings. When shooting in the field, you can charge the battery via the dedicated USB-C port and shape the fixture’s output by using the optional barn doors, diffuser, and grid.

Price and availability

Both the ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 and FIVERAY V60 are available now. The former retails for $379, while the latter will set you back $199. Finally, the FIVERAY V60 Combo Kit – which includes a set of barn doors, a diffuser, and a grid – is also available for $249.
