Tilta Modification Kit Announced - DJI Ronin 2 Now Hydra Arm Mini Compatible

Tilta has announced their first major upgrade to the Hydra Arm Mini with a new Modification Kit to allow compatibility with the DJI Ronin 2 Gimbal Body. The Tilta Modification Kit includes a heavier-duty shock-absorbing head, 2 smaller support cables, a mount adapter for the DJI Ronin 2, and a stronger spring for the shock-absorbing arm.

These four new components boost the Hydra Arm Mini’s payload capacity, supporting loads ranging from 8kg/17.6lbs to 13kg/28.6lbs in a two-arm configuration – good news for heavier camera/lens combinations. In addition, Tilta’s Modification Kit should eliminate high-frequency vibrations and allow for smoother footage, particularly at higher speeds.

Shock absorbing head

To provide stronger shock absorption for the heavier camera/lens combinations, Tilta replaced the original polyurethane material in the shock-absorbing head with steel wire. The steel wire absorbs vibration, so high-frequency vibrations are eliminated, providing stable gimbal performance. The Head is easily swapped with the original using a quick-release plate.

Mount adapter for DJI Ronin 2

The kit’s mount adapter was specially designed for the DJI Ronin 2 to easily integrate into the Hydra Arm Mini system. According to Tilta, users can quickly and securely mount the gimbal to the head without requiring any additional mounting accessories.

Stronger shock absorbing spring

The limited payload capacity of the system’s original spring has now been addressed with an upgraded, heavy-duty spring for the shock-absorbing arm. By replacing the original spring, the Hydra Arm can support loads ranging from 8kg/17.6lbs to 13kg/28.6lbs in a two-arm configuration.

Smaller support cables

The shortened support cables let users build the arm with only two pieces. This means it won’t reach as far, but, being more flexible, it has an advantage in tight spaces or tricky environments.

Please note that to properly support the Ronin 2 with the higher payload capacity, you’ll need to use this two-arm setup.
