SWIT CL-40D Compact Bi-Color LED Panel Announced

SWIT recently released a compact 40W bi-color LED panel: the CL-40D. This panel can be powered via its built-in V-Mount battery plate or USB-C, it can go from 2700 to 6500K, and it has impressive photometric ratings with a CRI of 98, a TLCI of 99, and an SSI (D55) rating of 75. So, let’s take a closer look at it!

SWIT is well-known for their high-quality batteries, which are available in all industry standards, such as V-mount, Gold Mount, B-mount, and so on. Furthermore, the company also makes wireless video transmitters, on-camera and production monitors, LED lights, and much more.

The company is now back with a smaller LED light that can be handy for one-man-band filmmakers: the SWIT CL-40D.

Controls and powering options

At the back of the LED panel, you’ll find a small LCD screen with two knobs to adjust the brightness and color temperature.

To power the light, you have three options: the built-in V-Mount battery plate on the left side, a USB Type-C port on the right side, and a DC power input to feed the light from wall power via the included AC-DC adaptor.

The light comes with a snap-on handle to mount it to a standard 5/8″ baby-pin light stand. You can tilt the light 90° forward/backward. I’m not a huge fan of the handle’s design, as I find it too large considering the small form factor of the LED panel.

The SWIT CL-40D is available now for €197. A two-light package with light stands is also available for €449.
