FALCAM TreeRoot Quick Lock Travel Tripod – First Look

We were at the FALCAM booth in NAB 2024 with Bear Chen, who showed us their new travel tripod, the Falcam TreeRoot Quick Lock Travel Tripod. Let’s take a look at its features!

FALCAM is a brand known for their affordable camera gear and accessories. This time, they have introduced a new travel tripod called the FALCAM TreeRoot Quick Lock Travel Tripod. The first thing that caught our attention was the press-down Arca system that attaches the plate without the need to press any lever to secure it.

FALCAM TreeRoot Quick Lock Travel Tripod features

To make the tripod compatible with the old Arca Swiss standard systems, the brand has included a system that allows users to attach the plate just by pressing down. The tripod is lightweight, around 1.5kg, including all the parts.

The ball head has a knob above the panoramic direction that allows us to tilt the head for vertical shots, for example. The ball also lets us change the tightness and it can move 360° while vertically positioned, which allows for vertical panoramas. The payload when the ball is positioned horizontally is 6kg/13.2lbs and 3kg/6.6lbs in the 90° vertical position. The minimum height of the tripod is 16.8cm/6.6in, perfect for lower shots, and the highest point is around 155cm/61in.

The tripod has a hook for our backpack to give it stability and a quick-release system to attach accessories. The legs are carbon-made, and the locking system locks and unlocks with a slight rotation. If we add this to the smooth resistance of the legs to extend and fold, we have a fast and easy system to set up.

Finally, we can remove the rubber caps at the bottom and use spikes on unstable surfaces. Overall, considering it is the first tripod from FALCAM, it looks like a well-thought-out product to take a look at.

Price and availability

The FALCAM TreeRoot Quick Lock Travel Tripod will start selling from $399 and the version with the ball head will sell for $499. (FALCAM is aiming to have those tripods towards the end of May. For more information, please visit the FALCAM’s webpage here
