Aputure Light Box 60×90 and 30×120 Announced

Aputure has just announced the availability of two new light modifiers: the Aputure Light Box 60×90 and a taller yet slimmer Light Box 30×120. Both modifiers come with the widely used Bowens mount, which allows them to be attached to popular Aputure fixtures as well as fixtures from other manufacturers.

A powerful light is always great to have on any set, but the ability to modify and shape the output of the light is perhaps even more important.

That’s why Aputure keeps releasing new light modifiers for the LightStorm series. But since we are talking about modifiers with Bowens mount, you can of course use any light with that mount.

So here we have two new models, and this time they are not circular Light Domes, but square modifiers: the Aputure Light Box 60×90 and the Light Box 30×120.

Aputure Light Box 30×120 and 60×90

The more traditional-sized Light Box 60×90 (2×3 ft) is a quite big rectangular soft box. In order to diffuse the light you have the choice of two different supplied diffusion fabrics (1.5 Stops and 2.5 Stops), an extra inner baffle (1.5 Stops) diffusion plus a 45° grid.

The taller, yet slimmer Light Box 30×120 (1×4 ft) seems perfect for both, tight spaces as well as situations where you need a full-body fill light for example. This model also comes with two diffusion fabrics (1.5 Stops and 2.5 Stops) as well as an inner baffle (1.5 Stops) and a 45° grid.

Both Light Boxes connect with just 4 rods to an included Speedring adapter, which holds the obligatory Bowens mount to attach the whole thing to an LS 600d Pro, for example. The fact that you only need 4 rods instead of the many rods of Aputure’s circular Light Domes means that you can pack these modifications flat and therefore don’t need much storage space. A soft travel bag is included with both units.

The 60×90 model weights 1.22kg (2.68lb) while the 30×120 model tips the scales at 1.08kg (2.38lb). Both Light Box variants are avaialble for pre-order now and should be available really soon. The 60×90 variant is $66 while the 30×120 Light Box is $69.
