Aputure STORM 1200x Announced - New BLAIR Light Engine and More

Aputure has announced a new light fixture: STORM 1200x, a portable COB lamp that introduces a new light engine called BLAIR. According to the company, it produces a full white light spectrum with accurate colors and affects natural surfaces like skin in a way that no LED has been able to do before. Let’s take a look at it!

As the offer of lighting fixtures increases and the competition grows, brands need to add value to their products to differentiate themselves. Design, innovation, affordability, etc., are some of the points brands embrace to make a name in the industry. One month after announcing the Sidus Four, Aputure returns with the announcement of the Aputure STORM 1200x, a COB fixture the company anticipates will become a workhorse in the industry. The fixture introduces the BLAIR light engine (Blue/Lime/Amber/Indigo/Red) that produces full white spectrum light, among other features. Let’s take a look at them.

Aputure STORM 1200x main features

Among the features of the new Aputure STORM 1200x, the one that stands out is the BLAIR engine. According to Aputure, this technology gives a brighter and better-quality light than traditional bicolor, thanks to the emitters producing a wide CCT range from 2,500 to 10,000K and accurate adjustability in the green/magenta range and other colors. The mix of emitters balances their output across the CCT range, providing similar brightness at 3200K and 5600K.

Aputure announces the STORM 1200x as the first 1200W fixture featuring 100% +/—Green control, the full ASC MITC range of adjustment. The light also offers improved low-end dimming and can dim down to 0.1% without color shifts or dropoff.

The fixture features a ProLock Locking Bowens mount, allowing users to attach different accessories for greater shaping and flexibility. In terms of size, the fixture is compact, considering its output capacity, and features CRMX / DMX / Bluetooth connectivity. Its IP65 weather protection offers complete dust and weather protection, making the fixture suitable for challenging environments. Everything is sealed, from the lamp to the connectors, control box, cables, etc. Finally, the STORM 1200x features a 360-degree tilt, thanks to the extended size of its yoke.
