Bright Tangerine recently introduced a new version of their LeftField 3 camera support system for the RED KOMODO-X camera. You can either buy different support kits or you can combine your existing LeftField system with new parts to make it compatible with the specific mounting points of the KOMODO-X. Prices start at $837 for the Base Kit and up to $1,467 for the Expert Kit. Let’s have a closer look at the different options.
LeftField 3 Base Kit for RED KOMODO & KOMODO-X (Standard)

British manufacturer Bright Tangerine is known for camera accessories and rigging solutions. The LeftField camera support system for the RED KOMODO was introduced two years ago, and yes, they’re not inexpensive, but you will get solid quality for your money. RED KOMODO-X
The new RED KOMODO-X is something between the original KOMODO 6K and the V-RAPTOR S35. The first limited edition in shiny white is sold out, but now you can get the camera in a standard black version for $9,995. Please have a look at this article about the KOMODO-X.
The KOMODO-X looks very similar to the original KOMODO design, but the mounting points on the bottom of the camera are slightly different. The original KOMODO has a screw spacing of 12,5mm / 0,5 in, but the KOMODO-X has a wider spacing of 25mm / 1 in. Additionally, the new KOMODO-X has a run/stop button on the front of the camera and also features a locking RF mount. This means that the KOMODO-X might not be fully compatible with existing components out there.
LeftField 3 Base Kit
All NEW LeftField 3 kits are compatible with the RED KOMODO and the KOMODO-X. The LeftField 3 Base Kit comes with a left and right-hand side plate featuring three 3/8” and two 1/4″ accessory mounts, a top rail with two 3/8”, one 1/4″ mount, and two Quick Detach (QD) points. The kit includes the standard LeftField 3 15mm LWS universal baseplate, and it is compatible with additional rod-mounted accessories.
LeftField 3 Advanced Kit
The LeftField 3 Advanced Kit includes the same side and top plates but comes with a Nato top handle. It features multiple accessory mounting points, including a cold shoe, 1/4” mount, and 3/8” anti-twist points. The kit also includes the standard LeftField 3 15mm LWS universal baseplate, a LeftField Dovetail Plate, and a DJI RS 2 & RS 3 dovetail with a riser. This means you have a dual-stage quick-release system for switching between handheld, tripod, or gimbal modes. It is compatible with the DJI RS 2, RS 3, and RS 3 Pro gimbals.
LeftField 3 Expert Kit
The Expert Kit includes all the components of the Advanced Kit but comes with a pair of 30,4 cm / 12 in titanium rods and an additional top bar bracket. With that top bar bracket, you can attach it directly to the NATO top handle to use any 15mm rod-mounted accessory. For example, you can mount an electronic viewfinder or a lens motor without the need for a baseplate.
Upgrading for existing customers
If you already own a LeftField 15mm LWS baseplate with a standard riser, Bright Tangerine is providing a set of washers and screws for proper fitment to the baseplate for the KOMODO-X. This is a special order, so you will need to contact the customer support service. The new standard riser already includes everything you need for both cameras.
If you own a DJI riser you will have to use the universal extended DJI RS 2 & RS 3 Dovetail. It features shuttles with adjustable screw spacing so you can use it with several different camera models.
