CAME-TV Shock Absorber Arm Deluxe Edition for Osmo Pocket 3 Released

CAME-TV Shock Absorber Arm Deluxe Edition adds an additional wire-dampened isolation cradle to the existing mounting option for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Mounted either via the included suction cup or via multiple threads on the arm, this shock absorption system is available now for $198.

The latest pocket-sized gimbal camera from DJI, the Osmo Pocket 3 (released back in October 2023), has attracted a fair amount of interest from filmmakers who need very compact gear. My colleague Johnnie recently reviewed the camera during his travels. I have also been using the camera on most of my shoots since the beginning of the year. I think it offers a reasonable image quality, given its size. The ergonomics has also improved compared to previous generations.

Pocket 3 on cars?

The Osmo Pocket 3 was also a popular option for automotive filmmakers on a budget or for people who only occasionally want to film from a moving car. To tackle the rigging challenges for these scenarios, we have seen new products, such as the Movmax Blade arm release back in May 2024. CAME-TV is another Chinese company presenting their solution for mounting the Pocket 3 on a car. Last month, the company announced the Shock Absorber Arm and now CAME-TV launches an upgraded version of the arm called “Deluxe Edition”. Let’s take a look at what’s new.

For the new Deluxe Edition, CAME-TV uses the same Shock Absorber arm and suction cup, but there is now a new wire-dampened double “isolation cradle” on which you can mount the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. This should further minimize the vibrations reaching the camera itself. This cradle sits on the L-shaped plate mounted on the two rubber shock absorbers. Hopefully, the combination of all the dampeners prevents vibrations from reaching the mounted camera.

The arm features an adjustable shock absorption system that includes both a spring mechanism and a hydraulic damping system. The spring mechanism allows users to adjust the tension of the spring to match the weight of the camera equipment and the specific shooting conditions. Additionally, the hydraulic damping system provides a smooth and stable movement, according to CAME-TV.

CAME-TV posted a video showing how to set up the whole system. Sadly, sample footage is not currently available. I wonder how well the system works in a real-world filming scenario. Hopefully, CAME-TV will share sample footage very soon.

The arm can either be mounted on a clean, flat surface using the included suction cup, or it can be mounted to various bars or rods using the multiple different-sized threads on the mounting plate of the arm. The net weight of the shock absorber arm is 1 kg (2.2 lb).
