Canon has officially launched the PowerShot V1 globally—a compact, creator-focused camera that’s been generating buzz since its initial debut in select Asian markets. Sitting between the beginner-friendly PowerShot V10 and the more advanced EOS R50 V, the V1 delivers a surprising amount of power in a truly pocketable form.
We first saw the Canon PowerShot V1 during the CP+ 2025 event, alongside other major announcements from Canon and more. Check out CineD’s full coverage here.

Built for creators
Weighing just 374g/0.82 lbs, the PowerShot V1 is light enough to carry anywhere but loaded with features that punch above its weight. It’s built for vloggers, streamers, and on-the-go creators who don’t want to mess with bulky gear or complicated menus.
Its built-in 16–50mm f/2.8–4.5 zoom lens gives you a wide enough view for selfies and vlogs but with enough reach for tighter shots, too. A flip-out touchscreen makes framing easy—whether you’re shooting horizontal or vertical content—and a new quick record button helps you capture moments the second they happen.

Built-in ND filter
The PowerShot V1 includes a built-in neutral density (ND) filter—an uncommon feature in compact cameras at this level. It allows creators to maintain cinematic shutter speeds and wide apertures, even in bright lighting conditions. Whether shooting outdoors or under harsh lights, the integrated ND offers added exposure control without needing external filters or adapters.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II & 4K 60p
This little camera isn’t just for casual clips. The PowerShot V1 records unlimited 4K at 60p (cropped) thanks to its active cooling system, which keeps things running even during longer shoots. Full HD at 120p is also available for slow-motion footage.
Autofocus is powered by Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which tracks both people and animals with impressive accuracy. And yes—it performs well in low light, too, thanks to a large 1.4-inch sensor and Canon’s smart exposure handling.

Built-in and external audio support
Canon gave audio some real attention here. The built-in mic includes noise reduction to keep things clear in busy environments. But if you want to level up, there’s a mic input and headphone out so you can plug in your own gear and monitor it in real-time.

Live streaming and file transfer
For live streamers, the PowerShot V1 supports UVC/UAC, which means you can plug it straight into your computer and go live without any extra software. Wi-Fi and USB-C make transferring clips fast and easy, whether you’re editing on your phone or posting straight to socials.

Price and availability
The Canon PowerShot V1 will be available starting April 10, 2025, priced at £959.99 / €1,089.99.
With its mix of portability, 4K capability, and creator-focused tools, the V1 enters a competitive space aimed at content creators looking to streamline their workflow.
