COLBOR CL220 LED Light Fixture – First Look
COLBOR introduced the CL220 to their CL series of existing COB LED lights, CL60, CL100 and CL330. The new CL220 has an aluminum alloy housing, and like all the other models it has a PowerCube design, which allows several units to be stacked together for a larger lighting source. The CL220 fixture is already available for pre-order starting at $299. We met Loki Xie from COLBOR at NAB in Las Vegas. So let’s find out more about the new lights!
Chinese manufacturer COLBOR is a relatively new name in the industry. Mid of last year they released the CL60, a bi-color COB LED spotlight with a modular design. A few months later we reported about the new CL60R, CL100X & CL100XM LED lights of the CL series.

COLBOR CL220
As the name already suggests the CL220 has an output of 220 Watts with a CRI of 97+. It comes in two different versions, the CL220M model is a daylight-only version, and the CL220 is a bi-color model with an adjustable color temperature between 2700-6500K.

Additionally, COLBOR also offers a light version without reflectors for people who already own enough light modifiers. Or if you want even more modifiers, you could get yourself the BP65, a quick-setup parabolic 65cm/25,6in softbox for the standard Bowens Mount.

The CL220 is fully dimmable from 0 up to 100% and according to the numbers provided by COLBOR, the CL220 can output up to 105.000 lux at 1m/3,3ft when using the included reflector. Like most competitors, the fixtures have two knobs and a small screen at the back so you can easily adjust the dimming and the light temperature by hand or via the COLBOR Studio App (iOS/Android).

Light matrix
One of the key features of the CL series is the ability to arrange the fixtures together in a larger matrix. Any adjustment on the settings of one fixture can be replicated on all other units in the same group. COLBOR is providing a small wireless hand controller for dimming the lights. That is actually quite a useful feature and could come in quite handy when you don’t have any larger light sources available.

Dual power
Like the other models, it has a dual power solution, so you can either run the CL220 directly from a DC power supply and also with a V-mount and a D-Tap battery with 24V or even 48V. It’s always nice to have the option to run a fixture from a battery when you are shooting in the field.
