B&H is currently running a tasty deal on Panasonic’s flagship box-style full-frame cinema camera, the LUMIX BS1H. The camera is currently listed for $2,497.99, thus granting you an instant saving of $1,000. So if you’ve been constantly keeping an eye on the BS1H, don’t sleep on this opportunity!
Launched towards the end of 2021, the Panasonic LUMIX BS1H is a box-style version of the popular S1H mirrorless camera (our Lab Test here). The two models share the same internals, including the 24.2MP (6,024 x 4,016) full-frame dual ISO sensor, while the body is inherited from the BGH1.
In spring last year, the LUMIX BS1H joined the list of Netflix-approved cameras, so you can be assured that the camera can offer premium image quality. However, if you’d like to judge with your own eyes, you can take a look at this review with sample footage that my colleague Johnnie shot a while back.

Panasonic LUMIX BS1H – summary of key features
When it comes to recording resolutions and frame rates, this L-mount camera can shoot internally in 6K24p, 5.4K30p (3:2) or 5.9K30p (16:9) using the whole sensor or up to DCI 4K60p in Super 35 mode. What’s cool about Panasonic cameras is that they offer a great amount of flexibility, with many compression options to choose from. These range from high-quality 10-bit 4:2:2 video to 8-bit 4:2:0 for run-&-gun projects.

The camera is equipped with the V-Log gamma curve and internal recordings are saved onto SD cards (two slots are available). However, the camera can also output RAW data at up to 12-bit 5.9K 30p via its HDMI port. This can be recorded using an Atomos Ninja V or Blackmagic Video Assist 12G, for example. Moreover, a 3G-SDI port is also available for monitoring purposes, since the camera lacks a built-in screen.

Against the S1H, this box-style version lacks sensor stabilization, but features a more robust IO layout. This includes the aforementioned HDMI and SDI ports, but also USB-C, Timecode IN/OUT, Genlock IN, Ethernet, 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks.
