DoPchoice AIRGLOW FLOAT Introduced - Inflatable and Round Toplight Modifier

DoPchoice has introduced the AIRGLOW FLOAT, an inflatable, round toplight modifier designed to work with COB, panel, mat, and tile LED fixtures. Building on the AIRGLOW BOOKLIGHT, the FLOAT offers soft, controlled illumination with a fast setup and compact form factor. Lighting setups can be complex, and we always look forward to finding tools that simplify the process, so let’s have a look!

CineD has been following DoPchoice products for a while, like the SNAPBAG AIRGLOW BOOKLIGHT, which launched in 2024 and won the CineD Best-of-Show Award for lighting at NAB that year, and in cooperation with Lightbridge SNAPBRIDGE, introduced in 2023 and later expanded with new sizes and fabrics. Now, they’ve added the AIRGLOW FLOAT to their lineup.

Inflatable setup with adjustable spill control

The AIRGLOW FLOAT comes in 4-ft, 8-ft, and 12-ft diameters. It uses two inflatable rings to support a cylindrical side cover, forming a contained softbox. A removable SNAPCLOTH diffusion reduces light intensity, while a reversible black-white skirt provides additional control. A three-point ceiling mount system should make overhead positioning easy.

Designed for use with LED panels and COB lights, the AIRGLOW FLOAT’s up-facing back wall adjusts to fit different light sources (for example, cylindrical tiles or tubes using hook and loop attachments) and can be partially opened or closed to control any top spill. Its height, adjustable from 150mm to 300mm by angling the rings, enables greater top-mounted diffusion.

Customizable with fabrics and effects

The AIRGLOW FLOAT offers flexible lighting configurations and can be set up for a booklight effect, for example, or a large bounce, depending on the setup. Different bounce fabrics, including Hard Silver and Muslin, offer varied light intensity and softness.

For an entirely different effect, lighting units (for example, cylindrical tiles or tubes using hook and loop attachments) can also be mounted inside – specifically, flexible LEDs such as LiteMat and LiteTile can be lined along the inner wall to direct soft, even light downward. Adjusting the rings into a wedge shape further refines the beam angle.

Flexibility and ease of use

The AIRGLOW FLOAT offers many possibilities with various lighting configurations. Plus, it inflates quickly and can be used for toplight, backlight, or bounce applications. Its tiltable depth adjustment should help ensure even light spread, and when deflated, it packs down small for easy transport—less of a hassle compared to traditional lighting modifiers.
