DZOFILM Octopus Lens Adapters and Price Increase

DZOFILM recently released the Octopus lens adapters that allow you to mount nearly every PL-mount lens to a Canon-RF / Sony-E / Panasonic-L / FUJIFILM-X mount camera. Also, the company has just announced that they are increasing all their prices by the end of this month.

Chinese lens manufacturer DZOFILM is known for making affordable cinema lenses with an amazing price/quality ratio like the 20-55mm T/2.8 and 50-125mm T/2.8 Pictor Zoom lenses or their recent Vespid Full Frame Prime Lenses lineup. Moreover, all DZOFILM lenses come standard in Canon EF or PL mount, which are user-interchangeable.

However, if you want to speed things up on set or adapt other PL mount lenses, which you might already own, to a camera, the DZOFILM Octopus lens adapters might be a nice and efficient option.

DZOFILM Octopus lens adapters features

The DZOFILM Octopus is a series of four PL lens mount adapters that allows you to mount nearly every PL mount lens to a Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic L, or FUJIFILM X-mount camera. All adapters are made out of metal with a “price and solid connection,” according to DZOFILM.

Interestingly, the adapters don’t have shims adjustment capabilities, which allows you to correct infinity focus issues you might encounter when adapting lenses. Unfortunately, it means that the DZOFILM Octopus lens adapters must be very precise to maintain perfect optical performances.

At the bottom of the Octopus lens adapters, you’ll find a removable 1/4″-20 lens support to take some stress out of your camera’s lens mount if you are using 15/19mm rods. The inside of the adapters features a “fine internal flock coating” to reduce unwanted light reflections inside the lens barrel.

The DZOFILM Octopus lens adapters are available now for $269 (€251) each, making them one of the most affordable options on the market.

Future price increases

In the footsteps of many companies such as Tilta, which are increasing their prices due to worldwide shortage and raw material price increase, DZOFILM has just announced that they are increasing all their lenses’ prices by the end of this month.

Here is what the company states on social media to justify the price increase:

We regret to inform you that escalating costs of raw materials necessitate that we raise the price of our products, in order to maintain a sustainable business model that delivers the quality you have come to expect and demand.
New rate will start to effect from July 31st, 2021. As always, thank you for the business you place with us and appreciate your understanding regarding this necessary course of action.
