DZOFilm Octopus Lens Adapters – EF to RF/E/L and PL to DX Released

DZOFilm is expanding its Octopus line of lens adapters with the introduction of four new adapters aimed primarily at users of EF lenses. Meet the DZOFilm Octopus EF to RF/E/L & PL to DX adapters.

The already available DZOFilm Octopus PL to RF/E/L/X adapters are joined by the new EF to RF/E/L adapters, as well as another PL adapter: PL to DX, which fits natively and, according to DZOFilm, without calibration on the DJI Ronin 4D.

These lens adapters are relatively affordable when compared to other solutions on the market, each one costing $269, except for the PL-DX, which sells for $299.

DZOFilm Octopus adapters

Just like the existing Octopus adapters, the new EF variants and the PL-DX adapter are made of stainless steel, which increases durability and also prevents physical changes due to temperature fluctuations. Each adapter weighs less than 299 g, which is not as light as a feather, but not particularly heavy for a decent quality adapter either.

Of course, such adapters have to perform 100%, so no wobbling and securely tightened lens and camera body connections are mandatory. According to DZOFilm, the purely mechanical Octopus adapters offer just that: a solid and reliable connection between body and lens.

All adapters are equipped with an active locking system that prevents play, gaps, or wobble. Infinity focus is also maintained, of course.

Plus, the inside of each adapter is flocked with a special light-absorbing material that prevents unwanted reflections and preserves the integrity of your images.

Pricing and availability

As stated above, each EF adapter sells for $269 while the PL-DX adapter clocks in at $299. According to DZOFilm, the company will begin shipping the PL-DX adapters in mid-August.

I think it’s a smart move for a lens manufacturer to also offer matching lens adapters to expand the range of applications for their lenses. In the case of DZOFilm, these adapters allow customers to use their lenses on a wider range of camera makes and models, which is of course always nice to see.
