Exascend Nitro CFexpress Type B Cards Released – 12K RAW-Ready With VPG400 Certification

Exascend Nitro CFexpress Type B Cards Released – 12K RAW-Ready With VPG400 Certification

Exascend has recently introduced their flagship line of CFexpress Type B cards, the Nitro series. Currently available in two high-capacity size options (512GB and 1TB), these fast storage solutions feature sustained read/write speeds of 1,850/1,700 MB/s, VPG400 certification, and a IP67 rugged design.

The CFexpress Type B standard is quickly taking over and it seems nothing can stop this trend. Apparently, Chinese company Exascend is eager to affirm itself as one of the major players in this market niche.

Indeed, at the end of 2021 the company introduced their blazingly-fast Archon 1TB CFexpress Type B card, which was certified by RED for use with their top-of-the-line camera, the V-RAPTOR. Now, the new Nitro series cards are here to outperform their Archon siblings. Let’s take a closer look.

Exascend Nitro CFexpress Type-B Cards: VPG400 Certification

The new Exascend Nitro series is the company’s flagship line of CFexpress Type B cards that offer sustained read and write speeds of 1,850 and 1,700 MB/s respectively. These values exceed those of the Archon 1TB model as well as the technical requirements of today’s camera technology, thus making these cards future-proof.

Currently, the company only lists a 512GB option on their website. However, we could spot a higher-capacity 1TB model on CVP. Both versions showcase a 12K RAW logo on their casing.

Furthermore, according to the company, these cards are the first in their class to receive the VPG400 (Video Performance Guarantee Profile 4) Certification from the CompactFlash Association. This guarantees that these products can sustain write speeds of 400MB/s without dropping a single frame.

Rugged design

These new CFexpress Type-B cards feature a proprietary Conformal Coating technology that should offer dust and water protection. According to Exascend, this results in a high IP67 rating that makes these cards suitable for harsh shooting environments.

As these blazingly-fast cards tend to quickly become hot, the company equipped their Nitro series CFexpress cards with ultra-thin graphene spreaders to minimize the risk of overheating and thermal throttling.
