Adobe has announced major updates that will be coming soon to Premiere Pro.
Color Correction inside of Premiere Pro is getting an overhaul. There is a new Color workspace revolving around the Lumetri Color Engine. The new Lumetri Color panel has basic color correction tools, curves, hue/saturation, and color wheels built directly in the panel. These won’t need to be applied as effects, but are always visible within the panel and ready to adjust. Another interesting tool is a mobile app that takes photos, analyzes the photos for various color schemes, creates a look, and then syncs that to Premiere. This should be an interesting way to experiment with color looks.
Premiere is also getting a new tool to smooth out jump cuts. The Morph Cut transition is similar to the Fluid Morph effect in Avid Media Composer. This should be useful for news or documentary shooters who don’t have footage to cover the jump cut between soundbites.
Other features will include improvements to audio workflow, improved support for third-party I/O hardware, and support for more file formats.
The update hasn’t been released yet. But Adobe is going to have a webcast on April 16 from the NAB show floor, and we will be there. For a detailed look at all the new features visit Adobe’s blog post.
