FeiyuTech Pocket 2 and Pocket 2S – Detachable, Wearable Camera Announced

FeiyuTech has just released two new pocket-size cameras with three-axis stabilization: the Feiyu Pocket 2 and Pocket 2S. While both feature 4K video recording at 60fps and a 130° ultra wide-angle lens, the Pocket 2S also has a detachable, wearable camera.

The DJI OSMO Pocket opened up a new scenario for pocket-size three-axis camera gimbals. As a result, FeiyuTech soon tried to keep up with their Feiyu Pocket, which they are now upgrading by introducing the Pocket 2 and Pocket 2S.

Ideal for content creators, travel videographers, and vloggers who want to travel light and need a stabilized camera that can fit in their pocket, the Feiyu Pocket 2 and Pocket 2S are quite innovative products. Let’s take a closer look.

Feiyu Pocket 2 and Pocket 2S: common features

Although the Feiyu Pocket 2 and Pocket 2S have slightly different camera sensors (respectively 1/2.3” and 1/25” in size), they share quite a lot of features.

Both products are equipped with a three-axis brushless gimbal that should provide smooth image stabilization and can be controlled via a 5-way joystick. However, the stabilized camera of the Pocket 2S is detachable and wearable. Yes, you heard that right! But more on that later.

The Pocket 2 and Pocket 2S are capable of recording videos in 4K at 60fps using the .MP4 or .MOV containers and a maximum bitrate of 120Mbps.

Furhermore, their 130° ultra wide-angle lens broadens the field view compared to the previous generation of FeiyuTech pocket-size gimbals (120°). This is great for content creators, travel videographers, and vloggers who want to capture more of the world around them.

The two products are equipped with the same smart functions, including Intelligent Beauty, Face Tracking, Trail Time-lapse, Panorama, and Hyper-lapse modes. Moreover, the FeiyuCam App can seamlessly connect to both the Pocket 2 and 2S via wi-fi for additional functions and more precise control.

A 1.3” touch-screen allows for image and settings monitoring on the two gimbals. Furthermore, both models feature a built-in loudspeaker and support an external microphone input using a dedicated accessory. The Pocket 2S also has an HDMI interface.

Feiyu Pocket 2S: detachable and wearable camera

One of the most impressive features of the Feiyu Pocket 2S, and the biggest difference with the Pocket 2, is the detachable camera. In fact, the Pocket 2S camera and gimbal can be separated from the body and then be connected to a dedicated mount or even magnetically attached to a metal surface.

In this way, the Pocket 2S can act both as a handheld gimbal or a wearable action camera. The connection between the stabilized camera and the body is guaranteed by a 90cm cord. The Pocket 2S is also compatible with a dedicated Extension Rod.

Breakpoint Shooting function

A new Breakpoint Shooting function has been added to both products. This essentially opens up the possibility of in-camera editing: the user can start and stop recording within the same video file.

This is a simple, but useful function, especially for those content creators who are out on the field and don’t have time to edit their videos with an app or editing software. Using the Breakpoint Shooting function, the content is already edited and can be published on the fly.
