Godox recently released two new compact and lightweight LED lights: the C30Bi and C30R. As their name suggests, the C30Bi is a bi-color fixture, while the C30R is an RGB LED light. Both lights feature a built-in battery with a maximum runtime of 45 minutes at full power and can be charged via USB-C. So, let’s take a closer look at these!
Godox is a Chinese lighting manufacturer that has been creating photo and video solutions since 1993. Initially focused on providing affordable studio lighting alternatives for photographers, Godox has since expanded their offerings to include more high-end solutions for filmmakers and content creators. Indeed, with products such as the Godox KNOWLED P1200R Hard PRO LED panel that we had a first look at, the company is not limiting itself to low/medium power lighting solutions.
This time, Godox is back with two compact 30W LED lights: the C30Bi and C30R.
Godox C30Bi and C30R – features
The Godox C30Bi and C30R are relatively compact LED fixtures, measuring only 13.31 x 7.8 x 2.59cm/ 5.2 x 3.1 x 1in and weighing 248g/0.54 lbs. These minimalist fixtures are easy to control with only two dials on the C30Bi – one for brightness and one for color temperature adjustment – and one color/brightness adjustment dial and a mode button on the C30R. To make things easier, the C30R has a small status display at the back of the unit.
Lighting People – On Location
In this practical 4-hour workshop, master cinematographers Paul Atkins, ASC, and Stephen Lighthill, ASC, share tips and tricks on how to achieve naturally looking lighting on location, both outdoors and indoors, in front of a diverse audience of filmmakers from all over the world.
As mentioned previously, the C30Bi is a bi-color model with a CCT range of 2,800 to 6,500K. The C30R is an RGB light that can go from 1,800 to 10,000K in CCT mode, but with the added benefit of an HSI color mode and 39 built-in lighting effects. Both fixtures have a CRI rating of 94 and a TLCI rating of 96.
According to Godox, the cooling fan at the back of the units automatically activates at higher temperatures and should be silent.
At the bottom of the units, you’ll find one 1/4″-20 mounting point and a USB-C charging port. The Godox C30Bi and C30R feature a built-in battery with a maximum runtime of around 45 minutes at full power. Lastly, the fixtures come with a removable diffusion dome and a charging cable.

The Godox C30Bi retails for $59, while the C30R RGB model is $89. Both models are available now.
