Half Inch Rails: lightweight carmount kit

The Half Inch Rails carmount kit is a 3-point mounting kit for car interior or exterior shots made for small cameras like dslr’s.

The advantage of this kit is it’s lightness and sturdyness and the fact that you can get a mounting point some inches away from the surface with the hir rods.

We don’t know how sturdy this rig really is . Sturdyness is the most important thing about car rigs, espesially if you use a camera that has rolling shutter issues. If your car rig vibrates your shots will most likely be unusable so you need utmost sturdyness.

Note that the Manfrotto gear (suction cups, gobo heads) seen in the video and image are not part of the rather high pried $1600 (ex VAT) kit.

The lighter your ‘camera head’ is the more acceleration your carmount system can take without shaking or coming off.
The HIR carmount probably has the best strength to weight ratio in the business.
The DoNut components slash the mass compared to systems that use full size cast aluminium gobo heads near the camera and are not moulded plastic like some of the competitions small car mount rigging components.
