iFootage Shark Slider Nano 2 – overview

The iFootage Shark Slider Nano 2 is a compact motorized slider that comes in two different versions with a total physical length of 66cm and 44cm. These offer a camera travel distance of 40cm and 20cm, respectively.

The tracking system has been updated to a linear bearing mechanism that should provide smoother and more stable operation, according to iFootage. Moreover, the maximum payload capacity was doubled, from 3.5kg up to 7kg, when the slider is placed horizontally. This number drops to 3.5kg when the slider is positioned vertically.

However, the biggest selling point of this upgraded version is probably its integration with DJI’s popular RS series gimbals, from the RS 2 up to the new RS 4 Pro. Indeed, iFootage partnered up with DJI to allow you to operate both the slider and the gimbal from the Shark Slider Nano 2 smartphone app. This allows you to pre-program complex motion control shots directly from your phone.

Moreover, AI facial tracking will be supported via the Beta version of the app, and you can now set a maximum of 8 key points, whereas the previous version only supported A-B marks.

The system can be powered using mains power or an external USB-C source. Moreover, the company developed its own external power grip (optional) to power the slider, the gimbal, and the camera from a single source.

Price and availability

The iFootage Shark Slider Nano 2 should become available around November 2024. Pricing starts at $649 for the 44cm version and goes up to $749 for the longer model. Finally, the optional battery is priced at $199.
