Ingnite Digi has recently teased a new product that should offer a solution to allow direct control of camera settings for RED KOMODO and V-RAPTOR on popular gimbal ecosystems, such as the Freefly Systems Mōvi Pro/XL and DJI Ronin 2. While the RED KOMODO and V-RAPTOR cameras brought significant improvements over the old DSMC2 line with a more compact form factor, some users might have encountered some compatibility issues while transitioning from the old DSCM2 to the new DSMC3 lineup.
This is particularly true for filmmakers that were used to control their camera settings directly from their Freefly Mōvi Pro/XL or DJI Ronin 2 ecosystem. However, it seems like a solution is just around the corner. Indeed, Australian company Ignite Digi recently teased their upcoming RCP (RED Command Protocol) Translator for RED DSMC3 cameras. Ignite Digi RCP Translator for RED DSMC3 cameras
While the old RED DSMC2 cameras rely on the original RED Command Protocol (RCP), which allows users to access a series of cameras settings directly from their Mōvi Pro/XL or Ronin 2 gimbal, the KOMODO and V-RAPTOR adopt a different standard (RCP2).

This incompatibility with old RCP devices limits the amount of control and flexibility for gimbal operations. Sure, the RED CONTROL smartphone app (available for iOS and Android) quickly grants access to the KOMODO/V-RAPTOR’s settings. However, more advanced users and setups would often benefit from direct camera control via RCP(2).
The upcoming Ignite Digi RCP Translator seems to be a promising workaround. Although its full specs and capabilities haven’t been released yet, from the teaser we know it will grant compatibility with Freefly Systems Mōvi Pro/XL and DJI Ronin 2. Hence, users will be able to control their camera directly via the Mōvi Controller/Mimic as well as DJI Force Pro/Master Wheels.
