シグマがニコンZマウントAPS-Cミラーレス一眼カメラ用レンズの開発を発表
We are currently at CP+ and got to catch up with Yamaki-san from SIGMA, who told us about the development of their first-ever interchangeable lenses designed specifically for Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. This new lineup will initially debut with three f/1.4 APS-C primes: 16mm, 30mm and 56mm DC DN Contemporary. Watch the video for the full interview!
Nikon’s Z-mount ecosystem of mirrorless cameras and lenses continues to grow at a steady pace. The Japanese manufacturer have recently released two new Z-mount full-frame lenses, the NIKKOR 85mm f/1.2 S and 26mm f/2.8, and they don’t seem eager to slow down. Indeed, they planned to introduce 50+ Z-mount lenses by 2025.
But as their proprietary optical arsenal grows, so does the demand for high-quality (and oftentimes cheaper!) third-party alternatives. Hence, Nikon mirrorless users will be happy to hear that lens manufacturer SIGMA is now winking right at them. Let’s take a closer look!
SIGMA’s first Nikon Z-mount lenses: 16, 30 and 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary
SIGMA’s first approach to the Nikon Z-mount ecosystem will originally consist of adapting three fast primes from their Contemporary series, namely the 16mm, 30mm and 56mm f/1.4. All these lenses already exist only in Sony E, Canon EF-M, FUJIFILM X, M43 and Leica L-mount variants and only cover APS-C sensors. This means that their Z-mount counterparts will be compatible with the entry-level Nikon Z 30 and Z 50, but not with the 8K RAW-capable Z 9, for example.
Of course, the lenses will be optimized to communicate with Nikon Z-mount camera bodies. This means they will fully support autofocus functions, including continuous AF, as well as in-camera lens aberration correction.
