Ulanzi just announced their new lightweight bi-color LT028 LED Light with 40 watts of output and a built-in 3400mAh battery. The battery can power the light for 75 minutes, which can save you some weight for quick outdoor shots. The Ulanzi LT028 is small, lightweight, and features very simple and intuitive controls. For $99.95, these seem like great throw-in-your-bag companions for when you quickly need a little fill light.
Ulanzi is back with another new product – the new lightweight LT028 COB LED light, which introduces a built-in rechargeable battery for their portable LED lights. The LT028 marks the most expensive in Ulanzi’s currently available lighting portfolio with the (still relatively cheap) price tag of $99.95, which is discounted to $79.95 at launch.
Built-in 3400mAh battery
The unique feature of this bi-color COB LED light is the built-in battery, which will give you up to 75 minutes at full brightness before you have to plug it into AC power (power adapter is included) or an external battery (14.8V) using the barrel connector on the back of the plastic housing. This sounds like a nice feature during setup, or when you’re only spending a short amount of time on location. Even when the fixture gets older and the battery runtime decreases, the internal battery can act as a hot-swap buffer for unlimited uptime.
The internal battery can be recharged in 3 hours, and can also be charged while the light is in use.
40W Bi-color COB LED
The LT028 features a bi-color COB LED with a color temperature range between 2500 – 6500 kelvin. Color rendition is stated to be 95 CRI and 96 TLCI. Cooling the 40W LED is an integrated cooling fan with vents on all four sides of the housing. Illuminance In 6500K/100% Brightness (0.5m)is 13260Lux (with standard hood).
Controls are easily laid out on the back of the lamp with a display, a CCT knob for controlling color temperature, a DIM knob for changing intensity, and an on/off switch rounding off the control interface.
You can also use 8 different lighting effect presets like Candlelight, TV, Paparazzi, and more for creating moods and creative lighting scenes.
Light shaping and mounting
Included with the light is a mini Bowens reflector. There are third-party adapters available to use full-size Bowens mount accessories (as shown in our iFootage Anglerfish review). Also included with the light is a small diffusion dome that attaches directly to the mini Bowens reflector.
There is one 1/4″ thread on the bottom of the light fixture. Surprisingly, there is no mounting accessory included – you can fix the light directly to a light stand at a fixed horizontal position, but to adjust the orientation, you will have to buy additional accessories.
