Jupio x Prime Gear Tri-Charge Battery Chargers and Memory Card Holders Introduced

Swedish YouTuber and influencer Peter Lindgren – under his company Prime Gear – has recently partnered with battery specialist Jupio to create an interesting product: the Tri-Charge battery charger and memory card holder. This USB-C charger can charge up to three batteries simultaneously, and it has multiple SD/microSD/CFexpress Type A/B memory card slots at the back of the unit to store your media. At launch, three models will be available for Sony, Nikon, and Canon users. So, let’s take a closer look at the Tri-Charge!

One “problem” with DSLR and mirrorless camera batteries, compared to V-Mount/Gold Mount batteries, for example, is that you’re often stuck with the OEM battery charger that came with your camera and can’t charge multiple batteries simultaneously.

Of course, you can use other chargers, such as the Fxlion PL-SP40 or the SWIT LC-D421 that I reviewed, and that remains, to this day, my go-to battery charger when I’m back at the office. While both of these options are great, they’re pretty bulky and not meant to be taken in your backpack on your daily adventures.

To solve that problem, Swedish YouTuber Peter Lindgren developed a compact USB-C battery charger with battery manufacturer Jupio: the Tri-Charge.

Jupio x Prime Gear Tri-Charge features

The Jupio x Prime Gear Tri-Charge is a battery holder and battery charger that is, let’s face it, inspired by DJI drone chargers. There is nothing wrong with it, as I’m a huge fan of DJI battery chargers, and the Tri-Charge falls into the “why nobody thought about it before” category.

The Jupio x Prime Gear Tri-Charge is available in three different flavors for either Sony NP-FZ100, Nikon EN-EL15, or Canon LP-E6 batteries. The Tri-Charge weighs around 173g/6.1oz and is made of plastic.

At the front of the case, you’ll find a 4-step LED gauge below each battery slot indicating your battery status. You’ll find a USB-C power input port on the right side of the Tri-Charge, whereas a USB-C power output port is on the left side. According to the company, “each of the three batteries is charged simultaneously with a charging current of 700mA,” and the USB-C output port can deliver a charging speed of up to 2 amps.

At the bottom of the Tri-Charge, you’ll find eight memory card slots: three for SD, two for microSD, and three for CFexpress Type A for the Sony version, and CFexpress Type B for the Canon/Nikon versions. The memory card slots have that famous “Click” function, so you know your card is not going anywhere.

Pricing and availability

The Jupio x Prime Gear Tri-Charge is available for preorder now for €99/$108, and it should start shipping by the end of this month.
