Photon Camera is an iPhone app developed by LateNiteSoft SL, aimed at photographers who want complete manual control. The company has just launched Photon 2.0 with 3D white balance control and other new features. Let’s take a look at this app!
The iPhone 15 Pro series broke into the market as a powerful filmmaking tool, thanks to the Apple ProRes Log and external SSD recording. However, its improved quality makes it a powerful device for photography, and different companies are releasing new apps to make the most of the smartphone’s capabilities.
Photon 2.0, an update focused on color accuracy
Photon Camera is an app that allows complete manual control of focus, ISO, shutter speed, and white balance. Designed with a minimalistic design to make it easy to use, it has practical features for photographers, like live exposure, histogram, and focus peaking, and it can shoot in RAW, ProRAW, HEIF, and JPG.

With twenty updates in six months, the app has been incorporating new features like clipping, timer, focus lapse, burst mode, shoot to disk, etc. Photon 2.0 now focuses on improving white balance by adding new tools like finer manual control and automatic detection.
Photon 2.0 includes a tactile 3D ball for changing color using the iPhone’s haptic feedback; we can change the color by moving the wheel or with the arrows for a more precise adjustment. The ball covers not only the classic warm-cool kelvin shift but also the green and magenta tint.
Filmmaking for Photographers
This update also adds automatic detection with a grey card function. By activating manual white balance and tapping on the grey card option, the phone can adjust colors automatically by using an 18% grey card, which should be especially helpful in demanding lighting scenarios.

Photon 2.0 is now available in the Apple App Store. The current subscription costs $3.99 per month or $19.99 per year, and you can also acquire the Pro version for a one-time price of $39.99.
