The Light & Motion CLx10 is a LED fixture with a light output of 10.000 Lumens and a CRI of 93/TLCI of 94. It has a fixed 5600K color temperature, but you can purchase an additional tungsten head if needed. Also, it is flicker-free at up to 1000 frames per second. The CLx10 is not entirely silent: there is a built-in fan to cool the single COB chip.

You got it, the CLx10 is not the brightest nor the most color-accurate light fixture on the market, but it has other advantages. You can attach nearly every light modifier in front of the fixture: Elinchrom, Profoto, Bowens, and Westcott light modifiers are compatible with the CLx10.

If it is not enough for you, it includes an umbrella holder on the mounting stud. Finally, Light & Motion also manufactures various optic attachments – Dome diffuser, 50° optic, 25° Fresnel lens, and so on – that you can mount in front of the LED chip.

Light & Motion CLx10 – Ergonomics

The Light & Motion CLx10 is a compact – 8.07″ x 3.78″ x 3.78″ / 20.5cm x 7.6cm x 7.6cm – and lightweight (2.7lbs/1.2kg) LED fixture.

The CLx10 is IP54 weatherproof and features a built-in battery. You can run it at maximum power for up to 55 minutes. However, to charge the light or run it through wall power, the CLx10 uses a proprietary 2-pin connector at the back of the unit. The fixture comes with a power supply, but I would have preferred a more “standard” connector, like a USB Type-C port, to charge or power it.

To control the light, there are three buttons on top of the light next to the power switch. The little OLED display allows you to see your light output, battery output, overheating status, etc.

Price and Availability

The Light & Motion CLx10 is available now and retails for $1039.00. It comes with a Profoto adapter, the C-Stand mount with an umbrella holder, the power supply, and an LED chip protector. A more advanced Photo Kit is available for $1699.00 and includes various light modifiers, a set of barndoors, a remote, and a carrying case.
