NANLUX NL70 Parallel Beam Reflector & NANLITE PavoSlim 240CL – First Look

September 13th, 2024 Jump to Comment Section

On the show floor at IBC 2024, NANLUX is showcasing its new NL70 Parallel Beam Reflector designed for the Evoke series, while its sibling company NANLITE is presenting the new PavoSlim 240CL 4×1’ RGBWW LED panel. We stopped by the company’s booth to learn more directly from Andy Qibin Lin from NANLUX/NANLITE!

Just a few weeks ago, NANLUX announced the development of a new, extremely powerful light in their Evoke spotlight series, the Evoke 5000B. In early 2025, this 5000W bi-color fixture should join the Evoke family, which already includes the Evoke 900C, 1200B, and 2400B.

Interestingly, the monstrous 5000B will be compatible with existing Evoke 2400B accessories. Over the last few months, the company introduced a few of these, including the FL-35E motorized Fresnel lens and the NL Mount Projection Attachment 15-30°, which are now joined by the NL70 Parallel Beam Reflector. Let’s take a look!

NANLUX NL70 Parallel Beam Reflector for Evoke series – features

The NL70 Parallel Beam Reflector is a new accessory designed specifically for the NANLUX Evoke series. It features the company’s proprietary NL mount and is meant to be a lightweight accessory that maximizes light output into a 60° beam. This can be useful for long-throw applications and can be used in combination with light reflectors to emulate sunlight, for example.

According to Andy, the NL70 is optimized for use with the high-output 2400B, but is also compatible with all the other fixtures in the series. The accessory looks massive, but actually “only” weighs 9.37kg/20.7lbs, which is not too heavy considering its size.

NANLITE PavoSlim 240CL – Compact 4×1 LED panel

The PavoSlim 240CL is NANLITE’s latest addition to their line of lightweight, thin LED light panels that was first introduced at IBC last year. This series already counts several 1×1’ (PavoSlim 60B, 60C, and 60CL), 2×1′ (PavoSlim 120B and 120C), as well as two 4×1’ fixtures (PavoSlim 240B & 240C). We’ve recently reported extensively about the new PavoSlim 240CL full-color model, so make sure to read our initial coverage here, in case you missed it.

As a refresher, this is a large 4×1’ LED RGBWW source that is only 2.25cm/0.93” thick, so it’s ideal for achieving soft lighting in tight spaces. The light is 100% dimmable and offers a wide CCT range of 2,700-6,500K with green/magenta adjustments. According to NANLITE, it can output 21,030 lux at a distance of 1 meter when set to 5,600K.

The light offers 5 different operating modes – including CCT, HSI, RGBW, Gel, and Effect – and several control modes – including on-board controls on the power unit, a remote controller, DMX/RDM, LumenRadio CRMX, as well as smartphone app control.

The same level of flexibility applies when powering the light, which can be done using mains power or V-mount batteries. Please mind that, although the light body is extremely slim, it still requires an external power unit to work.

Price and availability

The NANLUX NL70 Parallel Beam Reflector can be ordered now for $2,480.

The new NANLITE PavoSlim 240CL is also available to pre-order from B&H and CVP for $1,750/€1,730 (excl. VAT). The light body is bundled with a carrying case, a pop-up softbox with a grid, as well as two diffusers (1.5 and 2.5 stops).
