Sachtler Cine 20, Cine 30, and Cine 50 Fluid Heads Launched

Sachtler has just revamped their Cine series of fluid heads with three models: the Cine 20, Cine 30, and Cine 50. The Cine 20 has a 100mm bowl and a payload capacity from 2 to 22kg/4 to 48 lbs. The Cine 30 and Cine 50 have a 150mm bowl and heavier payload capacities up to a whopping 50kg/110 lbs. So, if you’re in the market for a heavy-duty tripod head for your cinema camera, let’s take a closer look at these!

The Sachtler Cine 30 HD fluid head was launched nearly 20 years ago, back in 2006. The latest release from Sachtler was the aktiv series and was aimed more at filmmakers/content creators with a maximum payload of up to 16kg/35.3 lbs with the aktiv14T.

Sachtler is now back with a well-overdue revamp of their Cine series with no less than three new models: the Cine 20, Cine 30, and Cine 50.

Sachtler Cine 20 – features

Let’s start with the Sachtler Cine 20, which is the only 100mm tripod head of the series. This tripod head is designed for cinema cameras with a weight ranging from 2 to 22kg/4 to 48 lbs. Still, this is a cinema-style fluid head, so don’t expect it to be lightweight, tipping the scale at 4.1kg/9 lbs.

You’ll find seven steps of drag adjustments on the pan and tilt axis. Regarding counterbalance, the Sachtler Cine 20 features the SpeedBalance system with 16 adjustment steps and a boost button.

On top of the Sachtler Cine 20, you’ll find a sideload plate with a long adjustment range of 15cm/5.9in. The head has no less than four rosette mounting points, two at the back and two at the front, which allows you to attach a pan bar, and also a front pan bar, which comes with the tripod head.

Sachtler Cine 30 and Cine 50 – features

The Sachtler Cine 30 and Cine 50 are larger 150mm bowl heads. The Sachtler Cine 30 has a maximum payload of 3 to 32kg/7 to 71 lbs, 18 SpeedBalance steps, and seven pan/tilt drag steps. The bigger Sachtler Cine 50 has a maximum payload of 10 to 50kg/22 to 110 lbs, 18 steps of counterbalance, and no less than nine steps of pan/tilt drag.

Both tripod heads feature an ARRI-compatible camera plate/dovetail. Also, the Cine 30 and Cine 50 feature front box mounting points, which are compatible with the optional front box adaptor (codename 3921).

Pricing and availability

The Sachtler Cine 20 retails for $6,650/€6,204.50, the Cine 30 is $11,305/€10,477.42, and the Cine 50 will set you back $14,012.50/€12,877.27. A wide variety of kits with tripod legs and/or spreaders are also available.
