SIRUI Joins the L-Mount Alliance with the Aurora 85mm F1.4 Lens
SIRUI has officially joined the L-Mount Alliance, becoming the ninth member to adopt Leica’s unified lens mount standard. The alliance was originally formed in 2018 by Leica, SIGMA, and Panasonic and now includes a broader mix of companies, including DJI, Blackmagic Design, and Samyang. The L-Mount ecosystem continues to grow, and the SIRUI Aurora 85mm F1.4 lens is now available.
For filmmakers and photographers, the L-Mount system is known for its cross-brand compatibility—lenses from any member can be used on any L-Mount camera body without adapters or loss of functionality. That makes it one of the more flexible systems on the market, especially for hybrid users working across photo and video.

More choice, lower price point
Li Jie, founder and CEO of SIRUI, describes the move as part of the company’s broader strategy to leverage its in-house optical R&D, manufacturing, and global distribution network. SIRUI’s entry into the alliance suggests we can expect more L-Mount lens options from them in the future, and even better, most likely at a lower price point than those offered by some of the original members.

The L-Mount system
The L-Mount has a 51.6mm diameter and a short 20mm flange distance, which makes it compatible with both full-frame and APS-C sensors. It’s built entirely from metal with a four-tab locking system for durability, and the contact strip allows full electronic communication between lens and camera.
The Art & Science of Lenses

SIRUI Aurora 85mm full-frame autofocus F1.4 lens
In November 2024, SIRUI introduced the Aurora series—a new line of fast, autofocus lenses designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Leading the pack is the 85mm F1.4, a compact and lightweight autofocus portrait lens that weighs just 540g (1.2 lbs). Five additional lenses are expected to join the lineup later down the road. Final thoughts on the SIRUI L-Mount Alliance
It’s not yet clear whether SIRUI will bring out new lens designs or adapt their current lineup for the mount, but joining the Alliance suggests we’ll see more competition – and possibly more affordable options – within the system.
