SmallRig Mobile Video Cages for iPhone 13 Pro / Pro Max Introduced

SmallRig has just introduced two new mobile video cages for the Apple iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. These cages are compatible with M-mount and 17mm threaded lenses, and they feature two cold shoe mounts as well as multiple 1/4″-20 mounting points. Let’s take a closer look at them!

When it comes to smartphone filmmaking, the latest Apple iPhone 13 released in September is probably one of the most advanced smartphones on the market. Indeed, this compact and lightweight tool can now capture 4K footage in Apple ProRes codec. Also, the new Cinematic mode combined with the improved macro capabilities can do wonders.

However, if you want to mount your iPhone 13 Pro on a tripod/gimbal/rig, you’ll need a cage with some mounting points. SmallRig introduced two mobile video cages compatible with the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max to solve this issue.

SmallRig iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max mobile video cages features

The SmallRig mobile video cages for the iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max are made from aluminum alloy and are pretty lightweight at only 172g for the Pro version and 185g for the Pro Max.

On the inside of the SmallRig mobile video cage, you’ll find a built-in silicone bumper to protect your smartphone from scratches and to absorb vibrations/shocks. To get your phone in/out of the cage, the top of the mobile video cage quickly opens via a quick release system. Then, you only have to slide your iPhone into the cage. I like this design was it seems to be fast and efficient.

You’ll find precise cutouts for the iPhone lenses at the back of the SmallRig mobile video cage. These holes are compatible with M-mount and 17mm threaded lenses to further increase the smartphone video capabilities.

On the cage itself, you’ll find two cold shoe mounts and multiple 1/4″-20 anti-twist mounting points. These mounting points allow you to attach accessories to your iPhone in either horizontal or vertical shooting modes. Also, with mounting points all over the cage, you can secure your iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max to a tripod, gimbal, magic arm, and so on.

The SmallRig mobile video cages for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are both available for pre-order now. The Pro version is $33.90, while the Pro Max version is $36.90. Both versions should start shipping on November 19th.
