Sony a7S III and a7 IV Firmware Update 3.01 Released

Sony has released a new firmware update for the Sony a7S III and the a7 IV that mainly fixes some bugs and improves the cameras’ overall stability. Let’s take a look at these improvements!

After the frustration over firmware updates on Sony cameras (we wrote about this some time ago), Sony is taking care of their ‘older’ models by releasing updates like this Firmware Update 3.01. The Sony a7S III was released in 2020 and the a7 IV was launched in 2021 as the successor of the a7 III. These are the fixes and improvements for each camera:

Improvements on the a7 IV

When updating the Sony a7 IV to the 3.01 firmware version:

  • Fixes an issue where the camera may not be able to connect to the network
  • Improves the operational stability of the camera

Improvements on the a7S III

Before downloading the firmware update file, you will find relevant information from Sony by following this link. These are the improvements with the 3.01 update:

  • Fixes the following issues with the ISO value:
    • The ISO value is displayed incorrectly when outputting a RAW video to a RAW-compatible device connected via an HDMI cable.
    • The upper and lower limit setting ranges are incorrect when the ISO value is set to Auto.
  • Fixes an issue where the camera may not be able to connect to the network.
  • Improves the operational stability of the camera.
