Here’s a nice trick for Sony A7S users. Anyone with a bit of history in the game will appreciate a good eyecup (Sony VX2100 anyone?) what ever happened them? It’s a feature that has never translated to video-able stills cameras, but videoshooter Michael Schmidt has come up with a great solution for a Sony A7S Eyecup that will improve your OLED experience tenfold.

The DIY eyecup is made out of two products, the Seagull Multifunction Camera Eyecup Set, and the Hoodman HoodEye for round Nikon viewfinders. You simply need the frame of the former product, and with a bit of persuasion it’ll replace the Hoodman HoodEye mount.
The HoodEye combo simply slides onto the eyecup mount of the Sony A7S, after trimming a small amount of plastic on the Seagull mount to accommodate the full resolution of the OLED display.
This is a great little tip to keep the form factor of the A7S exactly where it should be, small and discreet.
