Sony BC-ZD1 Dual-Battery Charger for NP-FZ100 Batteries and DC-C1 DC Coupler Announced

Sony has unveiled two new camera power supply solutions: the BC-ZD1 battery charger and the DC-C1 DC coupler. Both products work with Alpha series and Cinema Line cameras using NP-FZ100 batteries. The BC-ZD1 is a compact, high-speed charger that simultaneously charges two batteries. On the other hand, the DC-C1 can power a camera body from an external power source, which is helpful for long shots and streamings. Let’s take a look at both!

As filmmaking and videography evolve, creators need solutions adapted to the times. With the affordability of the means of production, anyone can create a channel with a camera or a phone and access to the internet. However, the demand for these productions sometimes requires extra tools to ensure a steady workflow – like live streamings or long content formats. Sony has just released the BC-ZD1 and the DC-C1, a couple of accessories to meet the needs of creators using Alpha series and Cinema Line cameras with NP-FZ100 batteries that need continuous power or fast battery charging.

BC-ZD1 charger first look

The BC-ZD1 can fully charge two NP-FZ100 batteries in approximately 155 minutes. It must be connected to a USB Power Delivery power supply with 30W or higher output and a USB cable with USB PD support (3A) or a higher current.

The charger, which is compact and lightweight at 149 g/5.3 oz, features an indicator lamp showing the charging status in five stages, heat dissipation measures, and built-in heat monitoring and control to ensure safety while charging.

DC Coupler DC-C1 main features

The DC-C1 DC coupler is a convenient solution for those looking for continuous camera power using NP-FZ100 or NP-FW50 rechargeable battery packs. With the coupler, users can get power from external sources like a USB PD compatible AC adapter with 65 W or more and a USB cable with USB PD support (5 A).

The DC-C1 is also compact and lightweight, perfect for small setups, and features a locking screw hole and an anchor loop to prevent accidental cable disconnection. It has a 1.6m cable to connect the plug-in plate to the power supply assembly, giving the user’s setup flexibility. Finally, its power indicator lamp shows the power supply status.
