Sony Cine Product and Canon V Cameras to be Announced on March 26, 2025

Both Sony’s professional division and Canon dropped teasers for product announcements on the same day, Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Let’s see what’s confirmed and what isn’t!

The end of March is building up to be a busy time for new camera announcements from a range of manufacturers. In addition to today’s FUJIFILM X Summit in Prague, there will be new products from both Sony and Canon on March 26, that’s Wednesday next week.

Sony announcement: “Go small, shoot big” motto

In the teaser, Sony shows a full-frame sensor with E-Mount and some kind of module.

We will report live from Sony event in Pinewood Studios, London

Please understand that CineD is not a rumor site and will not participate in unconfirmed speculation. We are looking forward to what’s coming and can confirm that we will attend the launch event at London’s legendary Pinewood Studios on the launch date to find out more, have hands-on with the product and make an interview with Sony there.

It’s save to say that the camera on the left is the PowerShot V1 which was first announced at CP+ in Japan a few weeks ago. Johnnie reported from there as part of his overview of the show, check out the video below. In addition to the PowerShot V1, we can expect another camera in the V lineup, which is more “in the dark” still in the teaser photo.

This is what Johnnie wrote about the PowerShot V1 from CP+:

Canon: Somewhat quietly and under the radar, Canon announced and showcased the new PowerShot V1. According to the company, the target group for this 4K camera is clearly content creators. Personally, I think it was built to satisfy a wider range of users if you look at what it has to offer. Equipped with a 22MP 1.4″ image sensor, built-in ND, 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, Canon Log3, cooling fan (for extended recording time), front tally, zebra, 16-50mm equivalent f/2.8-4.5 lens, vari-angle LCD screen, and more (note that 4K/60p recording will suffer from a 1.4x crop). This easy-to-use, ergonomically designed camera might appeal to many. But before you rush out to get one, keep in mind that it’s currently available only in Japan, with a worldwide release planned later this year. In Japan, the camera costs 148,00 Yen, which is roughly less than $1,000.

So it clearly looks like Canon is going to announce entry-level products on March 26, while Sony will tackle the high-end market on the same day. What announcement are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments below!
