Tamron has announced the development of a new FUJIFILM X-Mount zoom lens: the 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD. This lens, already available for Sony E-Mount cameras, covers APS-C image sensors. It has a constant F/2.8 maximum aperture and features a quiet RXD stepping motor handy for video use. So let’s take a closer look at it!
Tamron started releasing FUJIFILM X-Mount lenses in 2021, and it seems like for now, the company is focusing on producing zoom lenses. Last year, the Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD was launched, an affordable and versatile piece of glass with built-in image stabilization.
The ultra-wide angle Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD is not a new lens, as it is currently available for APS-C Sony E-Mount mirrorless cameras. If you already have the 17-70mm, the 11-20mm is an excellent addition to your kit if you often need to shoot ultra-wide angle content, such as landscape or real estate.

Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD for FUJIFILM X-Mount
The Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD (codename: B060) is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with a constant F/2.8 aperture. This lens covers APS-C sensors (16.5-30mm full-frame equivalent) and will be comparatively as compact and lightweight as its Sony E-Mount cousin.
The Art & Science of Lenses
Here are all the similarities with the Sony E-Mount version:
- A minimum focusing distance of 15cm/5.9in at 11mm.
- A moisture-resistant construction and a Fluorine coating on the front element for protection and safe cleaning.
- On the inside, an RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor will give you a fast and silent autofocus performance in both photo and video modes.
That’s all the information we have for now, but we can presume that the lens design will be pretty similar between both versions and that other items, like the 67mm front filter thread, will be similar as well.
Price and availability
The Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 for FUJIFILM X-Mount cameras will be available in spring 2023. There is no official pricing information yet, however, the Sony E-Mount version retails for $829.00, giving you a rough idea of what to expect.
