Tilta introduced the new Khronos Ecosystem for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. The new modular system integrates with Apple’s latest mobile device and enhances smartphone filmmaking. Let’s take a closer look at it!

The first Khronos Ecosystem from Tilta was released in April 2024 and was designed for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The special case integrates with the device, connects via USB-C, and accepts a variety of different accessories to enhance mobile cinematography, especially when used with cinematography apps like Blackmagic Camera and Final Cut Camera. Tilta took that original design and enhanced it further for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.

The new Khronos Ecosystem features a protective case designed specifically for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Integrated circuitry powers a variety of accessories. It is 15% lighter than the previous version and is made from 6-series aluminum alloy. Additionally, there are more color options available: Forest Green, Orange, and Black along with Space Gray and Titanium White.

Features include:

• Protective case made from 6-series aluminum alloy, designed specifically for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. It weighs only 58.5 g (2.06 oz) for the Pro model and 67 g (2.36 oz) for the Pro Max version.
• Five color options, including Space Gray, Titanium White, Black, Forest Green, and Orange.
• Multi-functional backplate features a kickstand, finger strap, and retractable utility knife.
• The modular design allows for a wide range of accessories, including lenses, handles, microphones, lights, and more. They are powered via the case’s integrated circuitry.
• Tool-free installation with the anti-slip quick-release system. Setup and removal times have decreased from the previous version, which required a screwdriver.
• Full control of the iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max’s camera control functions with the control pass-through.

Additionally, there are also a wide variety of accessories to help with mobile filmmaking, including:

• Quick Release USB-C Hub provides additional USB ports for SSDs and an HDMI port. 
• Multi-functional Magnetic Backplate.
• Cooling Module / System V2, which attaches via a wireless magnetic connection, keeps the unit cool during longer recording times. It also powers the iPhone.
• The Focus PD Handle features control of focus, zoom, and run stop. It also has an integrated battery to power accessories.
• Mini LED Panel, daylight.
• Circular Wooden Handle for easier grip.
• Lens Adapter.
• Quick Release Filter Tray. 
• ND Filters help to control the exposure when filming in bright environments. Attach magnetically.

Price and availability 

The Tilta Khronos for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max is available now and there is a limited-time discount of 10%. There are three different versions:

• The Ultimate Kit: Comes with the Protective Case, Cooling System V2, Focus PD Handle, Mini LED Panel (Daylight), Quick Release USB Hub, Circular Wooden Handle, Universal SSD Holder, Quick Release Filter Tray, and two Magnetic FSND Filters at 0.6 and 1.2. It costs $499.
• The Handheld Kit: It features the Protective Case, Focus PD Handle, Quick Release Filter Tray, and the two Magnetic FSND Filters at 0.6 and 1.2. It retails for $299.
• The Max Case: It only features the Protective Case and is priced at $129.
