VILTROX has just introduced two new compact V-mount batteries in their Snowpeak series. The BP-V50 and BP-V150 have a capacity of 50Wh and 150Wh respectively. They both offer D-Tap in/out, BP out, USB-A out as well as USB-C in/out with support for up to 60W fast-charging. Pricing starts at $148.
Over the years, VILTROX’s name has been most commonly related to affordable lenses and adapters. However, the company seems willing to create a complete ecosystem of accessories for filmmakers, including monitors, batteries, and even lights.
Back in May, the Chinese brand launched their first-ever mini V-mount battery – the Snowpeak BP-V99 with a capacity of 99Wh. This is now joined by the even more compact BP-V50 and the large-capacity BP-V150. Let’s take a quick look!

VILTROX Snowpeak BP-V50 and BP-V150 – features
While the Snowpeak BP-V99 offers a good balance between size and power, it might still be too large to mount on a gimbal, for example, or too small in capacity to run you through a full day of shooting. And that’s where the BP-V50 and BP-V150 come into play.
Philip Bloom's Cinematic Masterclass

The BP-V50 is a 50Wh (3350mAh/14.8V) V-mount battery measuring 33x73x115mm in size and weighing 350g. This makes it a good option to power mirrorless or small cinema camera rigs. On the other hand, the BP-V150 ensures longer run times with 150Wh (10.050mAh/14.8V). However, the power brick is twice as thick (67x73x115mm) and heavy (730g) compared to the BP-V50.

Just like the existing BP-V99, both batteries are equipped with multiple power ports, including two D-Tap in/out (one on each side of the battery), a BP out connection on the back, as well as a USB-A out and a USB-C in/out on top.

In particular, the USB-C supports Power Delivery (45W on BP-V50 / 60W on BP-V150) and can be used to charge the battery without the need for a dedicated charger. According to VILTROX, the 50Wh variant can be fully charged in about 80 minutes using 45W PD, while the BP-V150 should take approximately 2.5 hours (60W).

All Snowpeak batteries have a tiny OLED screen to display battery status. They get their name from the all-white design, but personally, I’m not a huge fan of white camera accessories. And while these batteries fashionably match the company’s EPIC full-frame anamorphic series, I still think many users would love to see these VILTROX products also available with a classic black finish.
