The Vimeo Festival and Awards will be an extravaganza of online coolness. There will be speakers, masterclasses and of course film screenings. This looks like it is going to be a ton of fun. The event takes place in New York October 8th and 9th, 2010. Here is a little info from the Vimeo website. Check it out if you are in the hood.

“From the small screen to the big screen! We’ve assembled the most creative and innovative short films and videos submitted to Vimeo Awards. Seriously folks, these entries represent the cutting-edge of video online, and many are premiering just for you. Come relax in one of New York’s best theaters and see what the best of the Vimeo Awards have to offer.

Screenings will take place at the SVA Theater are open to the public. Tickets are available on site for $10 for each screening. A festival pass gets you into all of them for free so make sure you register now.

The Vimeo Festival will bring the global creative community together and give attendees a rare opportunity to see, explore, and meet the people behind the profiles. Over the course of two days, we’re packing in as many talks, workshops, screenings, and special events covering the themes of Innovation and Inspiration.
