Wooden Camera Elite Accessory System for Sony VENICE 2 and Rialto 2 – First Look

Wooden Camera introduced the Elite Accessory System for the Sony VENICE 2 and the Rialto 2 camera platform. It consists of the Baseplate, Faceplate Cage, Quick-Release Top Plate, and an Ultra Handle. All parts can be purchased individually. The full kit for the Venice 2 is priced at $2508, and the Rialto 2 kit is $925. Let’s take a closer look at the new accessory system!

During the last few years, the Sony VENICE has emerged as one of the most popular high-end digital cameras. In November 2021, Sony unveiled the VENICE 2 with some significant upgrades. Wooden Camera Elite Accessories for Sony VENICE 2 – Baseplate

Let’s start with the baseplate. It’s a low-profile two-piece system that consists of a basic bridge plate with a baseplate mounted on top. The design allows you to separate the camera easily with no extra tools, and you can add accessories like shoulder pads, for example. You have front and rear rod clamps so you can mount additional accessories to your rig.

Wooden Camera – Faceplate Cage

The faceplate is attached directly to the sensor block using the existing 4 mounting points. Anything you mount to this faceplate will stay on the image sensor block, and in Rialto mode, the faceplate cage can be used completely independently.

Quick-Release Top Plate

The top plate includes a sliding feature so it can be easily mounted onto the integrated dovetail top of the camera without no extra tools required. You can still secure the top plate to the camera body with four 1/4″–20 screws for additional security.

Handle system with color rings

As my colleague, Nino, already pointed out, the wooden handle is the most appealing aspect because this is where you grab the camera. It’s the part that you actually feel in your hands. It is a bit like a sports car with a wooden steering wheel. Your car might have a powerful engine, but it is always the wheel that you will touch.

Pricing and availability

The Wooden Camera Elite Accessory System for Sony VENICE 2 and Rialto 2 is currently on display at NAB Show in Las Vegas. The entire kit for Sony VENICE 2, including baseplate, faceplate cage, and top handle retails for $2,508. The Elite Accessory System for the Sony Rialto 2 is available for $925. Shipping will start in approximately 4 weeks.
