ZGCINE ZG-V50 Released – 50Wh Mini V-Mount Battery with PD Fast Charging

ZGCINE ZG-V50 Released – 50Wh Mini V-Mount Battery with PD Fast Charging

ZGCINE has recently released a new pocket-sized V-mount battery with a capacity of 50Wh, called ZG-V50. It features D-Tap in/out, USB-A output, USB-C in/out, DC Out, and BP in/out connections as well as an OLED status display. It is now available for purchase for $119.

ZGCINE is a Chinese brand specializing in the production of batteries and charging solutions. A few months ago, the company released their ZG-V99, a compact 99Wh V-mount battery solution. More recently, they introduced a 50Wh version, called ZG-V50.

Mini V-mount batteries are getting extremely popular these days, as they pack enough power to fire up LED lights or even keep digital cinema cameras running for hours. Personally, I use the FXLION NANO ONE and TWO to power the RED KOMODO 6K, but the ZGCINE ZG-V series seems to provide an even more affordable option. Let’s take a closer look.

ZGCINE ZG-V50: pocket-size V-mount battery

The new ZGCINE ZG-V50 is 50Wh (14.8V, 3400mAh) V-mount battery that can easily fit in the palm of your hand. The cell measures 109x75x38mm/4.3×2.9×1.5” and weighs approximately 350g/12.3oz. That’s a tiny bit larger and heavier than the FXLION NANO ONE.

Moreover, the cell has a DC output on one side, while the opposite one hosts the power button. Also, the battery features a BP-style input/output connector on the back. The ports support the following voltage/amperage combinations:

All connections are covered by a rubber lid, while an OLED status display on the front of the battery provides users with the fundamental information they need. According to ZGCINE, the battery can be fully charged in one hour and a half by using a 65W USB-C charger.

Overall, if you’re looking for a compact battery to power your cinema camera rig, the ZG-V50 looks like a solid option. Particularly, for RED KOMODO users, the battery seems to be compatible with the Tilta Dual BP to V-mount Battery Plate without obstructing the SDI port, and should be able to power the camera for more than one hour.
